Import NAS servers from source array

Network-attached storage is a file-level storage architecture that makes stored data more accessible to networked devices.

About this task

NOTE: Only source VDMs that have a status of Ready can be imported.

Steps

  1. Select a storage system that supports PowerMax File migration.
  2. Select Data Protection > File Migration.
  3. Select Remote Systems and click Import NAS Server.
    The Select NAS server page is displayed.
  4. Click Technical Note link to view import troubleshooting information.
  5. Click Refresh NAS Server to get the latest list of NAS servers that can be imported.
  6. Select a NAS server that you want to import.
  7. Select a Storage Resource Pool on which the migrated NAS server is to be created.
  8. Click Next.
  9. On the Configure File System page, select the service level for each file system. The default value is Optimized.
  10. Click Next.
  11. On the Configure Import page, type a value for the Import Session Name and Source Import IP Address (should be one of the existing interfaces on the VNX system) and select a Primary Node and a Backup Node.
  12. Click Next.
  13. On the Select Import Interface page and select the network device on both the primary node and back up node. Type a value for the IP Address, Prefix Length and Gateway (should be one of the existing interfaces on the VNX system).
  14. Click Next.
  15. On the Select Production Interface page, select an interface and select the network device on both the primary node and back up node. Type a value for the IP Address and Gateway. Click OK.
  16. Review the Summary page.
  17. Do one of the following:
    • Click Run In The Background to perform the operation in the background.
    • Expand Run In The Background, and click Add to Job List to add this task to the job list, from which you can schedule or run the task at your convenience. For more information, see Schedule jobs and Preview jobs.
